Apple are famed for their product releases, and often impress the world with their new technology and inventions. This hype is unrivalled. People all over the world will wait in line for days at a time, all just to get their hands on a new piece of tech.
The special edition, named iPhone 7 Red Edition, has been released in partnership with (Red), an ethical consumer company. (Red) was set up by U2 frontman Bono and philanthropist Bobby Shriver, and donates money to worthwhile causes like HIV/AIDS programmes. The new iPhone 7 commemorates 10 years of partnership between the two companies. The handset prices start at $749.Speaking about the collaboration, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook stated: “Since we began working with (Red) 10 years ago, our customers have made a significant impact in fighting the spread of AIDS through the purchase of our products. The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (Red), and we can’t wait to get it into customers’ hands.”
Apple have also launched a new iPad, which has dropped the “air” from its title. The latest version of the iPad features a 9.7 inch retina display screen with over 3.1 billion pixels, and comes in three colours: silver, gold and space grey. The tablet only weights 1lb, and has both front-facing and back-facing cameras which can record HD video. Prices start at $329 for 32GB with Wi-Fi.Apple have also released new straps for their Apple Watches. Collaborating with Nike, the new straps are better for sports users and are more lightweight and breathable. In addition, luxury brand Hermes has released new straps in “bleu”, lime and others. Additional straps designed by Apple include berry, pollen, azure, sapphire, orange and red, according to CNBC.Not content with releasing a new edition of the iPhone 7, a remastered iPad and new accessories for the Apple Watch, Apple have also released new video editing software. Clips allows users to “combine video clips, photos and music to be shared through messages and social media”. The app will be available in April, but only to Apple users. I’m sure that Apple’s latest launch will only solidify their position as one of the world’s most successful and sought-after technology brands.
